Project:

  • CHIEF OF PARTY – USAID PROJECT TO STRENGTHEN THE JUDICIARY OF LEBANON AND CITIZEN ACCESS TO JUSTICE
    Beirut, Lebanon

Supervised a multi-faceted rule of law development project that called for improvement of case management administration, strengthening judicial independence and public information/media relations, judicial training, and improving citizen access to legal assistance.

Implemented judicial independence and citizen access components including support for a code of judicial ethics, improvement of media relations with the judiciary, legal journalism as a profession, legal aid training for lawyers, promotion of volunteer service to legal aid lawyers, development of a citizen handbook on legal aid, and promotion of volunteer legal representation.

Regularly engaged in one-on-one meetings with ministry level and mid-level government counterparts to formulate government support for and participation in project programs.

Worked closely with the Beirut Bar Association, its members and president, to promote legal aid and increase volunteer services by legal aid lawyers.
